Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead

Ahh… One of the best times of the year, New Doctor Who episode day. :-D   Tonight was the first of the 4 (or, 3, I guess) last eps of the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant).  More thoughts, spoilers, and whatnot after the cut…

Kryten! Red Dwarf! Nerdgasm!

I am a big big big “Red Dwarf” fan (yeah, I didn’t have a lot of friends in high school…and most of the ones I did have liked it too…).  So, I was so happy when I saw this video from Kryten(!) on YouTube.  It was posted by Robert Llewellyn at his @bobbyllew Twitter account.

Man, I miss that show. Think I’ll go grab my ol’ RD DVDs…

Please, please…

…please tell me this reviewer just decided not to mention the Saul and David biblical connection to NBC’s new series Kings.  Part of my heart is sinking thinking that this might not be true.  That he/she didn’t actually get that this series is a retelling of what I thought was a pretty well-known story…eep.  I’m an atheist/agnostic/idunno, but even I know the story of Saul and David.

I mean, David Shepherd defeats Goliath in the first ep.  The kingdom’s name is Gilboa.  The daughter is named Michelle.  The king’s son is named Jack. The king’s advisor’s last name is Samuels.

That said, I am disappointed in how they handled the name of Silas/Saul’s wife. In the show it’s Rose, in the Torah it’s Ish-Bosheth and Ashba’al.  Tell me those names aren’t cooler than Rose?  Tell me.  You can’t!

“Hi, I’m Ish-Bosheth.”
