Oh So Boring…

The trials and tribulations of a man and his life. Tribulations, that's an odd word. Let's blog about it…

Weekend Plans…

Well, it’s weekend time…woo!  Of course, the ol’ nerd doesn’t have many plans, but the few I have are good.

Tomorrow is Saturday which means tomorrow is library day. Yay!  Any day with a visit to the library is a good day.

Sunday is Farmer’s Market day.  Last week, I got some heirloom tomatoes:

Heirloom Tomatoes

They were yummy and not numerous enough.

I also picked up a yellow watermelon:

Yellow Watermelon

which yielded enough cut up:

Yellow Watermelon...Cut

Mmm…I love yellow watermelon. I think it’s sweeter than red, though you don’t get the lycopene that’s in red watermelon:

Lycopene!

Lycopene!

This stuff absorbs blue-green light and, thus, looks red. (I might do the math this weekend to prove it. Go particle-in-a-box!) But, you know what has lycopene? Tomatoes!

Beyond these two things, not sure what else I might do. See a movie? Maybe. Read a book or two? Probably. Make another cheesecake? Could do.

Any suggestions?

Walking Shoes != Driving Shoes

In my effort to add more “boring” to this blog, I give you this tidbit.  Today, after work, I picked up some walking shoes I’d ordered from the good people of Metro Run and Walk in Springfield.

My new shoes are Brooks Addiction Walkers (in brown) which are, according to the salespeople, perfect for my flat, over-pronating feet.  And yes, they do feel good.

But, it turns out size 13 (ladies…), width double-E (ladies…) walking shoes that are nice and stiff to prevent ankle turning, yeah, they are not the best for pedal feel in a Honda Civic.

That was a fun drive home.

New Blog Location and Apologies

I really don’t know if this will work or not, but here goes. As I am no longer a theoretical chemist (in job, at least…I shall always carry that mantle), I decided to get a new URI to reflect this change, at least in my blog.  I think I’ll keep the theoreticalchemist.com URI as my personal page for now.

To wit, the new blog is now located at:

http://www.ohsoboring.com

I believe that domain really captures my essence.  I *think* I’ve set up a good 301 redirect from my old domain, but if you are reading this with an RSS reader, it might be a good idea to unsubscribe/resubscribe.

As for the apologies, well, just wanted to say sorry that I haven’t blogged more recently.  The new job has been quite…full, and by the time I get home I just want to crash.  I hope that as time goes on, I’ll settle into a good routine and start posting more often.

I mean, who doesn’t want to hear my a) nerd nattering on science-y stuff or b) my whining-whining-whining about my life?
