Recently, I was doing some self-Googling because I have a massive ego (of course). After finding out that I am not even on the first two pages of searches for my name, I decided to try “theoretical chemist“. And, woo hoo!, I am number four (maybe even three, depending on how you count).
Number one is, of course, Wikipedia. Even I have no thoughts of unseating the big Wik. But, number two (and three-ish) is Jack Simons. Damn you Simons! Why should your vast, well-thoughtout, textbook of a site be higher up than my sad little homepage?? WHHYYYY!?!?!
So, and I didn’t want to do this, Jack Simons…you’re ON NOTICE! Jimmy, bring out the board:

I didn't want to do this to you Simons!
Next up, my dastardly plan to make “theoretical chemist” lead to me. Me. MEEEE!
So, we just found out who got nominated for the Oscars and I’m sure I’ll blabber about that soon enough. But while at Oscar.com, I noticed they had a gallery of Best Pic posters…and that some things stood out.
First, how great is the poster for Tom Jones:

That is one great poster.
But this…really:

That poster is about the only place people smile in this film. It’s almost deceptive. “Come see the happy people dealing with horrible, horrible, saddening, melancholy existence after WWII!”
So, I decided to man up and see if I was still in the running for the BU job I interviewed for a while back. The answer was yes! Woo! Of course, a month between communications is a bit…troubling, but, hey, I’ll take my good news at face value for now.
