Uh oh. Betfair just suspended their book on the Doctor. From what I can see it was due to a massive influx on Matt Smith.
Update! The suspension is off…and now Matt Smith is leading. And Dexter Fletcher is suddenly quite popular…
Update! Looks like Dexter Fletcher was a bug. He’s back to being a “no”. Come on, Paterson…

As everyone who follows The Doctor knows, tomorrow is the day we find out who the next Doctor is. Being impatient, I decided to see if the name has been leaked yet. So, I do what all good curious people do when it involves British TV, I check the bookies. Sadly, it looks like William Hill and the usual suspects aren’t making book anymore. Ah, but there is Betfair, and they are doing their usual psuedo-book on the Doctor. Looking at it, we see three strong contenders.
Winning right now is the usual suspect for the last few months, Paterson Joseph. He has been on the show previously in "Bad Wolf" and "Parting of the Ways", but I will always think of him as the male contestant on Numberwang! from "T
In second we have Matt Smith, best known from Party Animals, who I think of as much too young to be the Doctor. But, RTD isn’t running things anymore, so, maybe? Still, much of what I’ve read online is saying (hoping?) that Matt is actually the next companion, not Doctor…but we shall see.
In third is the "proof there is a benevolent God" choice of Chiwetel Ejiofor. Now, I’m a bit to jaded to think movie star Chiwetel would be the Doctor, but, well, I can dream.
Of these, I truly believe that Paterson Joseph will be the Eleventh Doctor. And if so, well, I will welcome it with loud applause. He is a great comic actor who holds his own along side Mitchell and Webb. Since I love a Doctor with humor, I’d like that. But Joseph is plainly a good actor, so he would be a great Doctor no matter what
